The Spark
The Lebanese Ice Hockey Federation approached us to redesign their existing website with the goal of modernizing the experience and building a user platform where players and supporters could register and engage. Beyond just streamlining access and interaction, the new site also needed to present dynamic stats and rankings, including player rosters, game results, and league standings, in a clear and accessible way. Additionally, we were tasked with developing a fan shop to support the Federation's merchandise sales and strengthen the community around the team.
Initially, we planned to use Framer to speed up development for a sleek, modern website. However, when the client requested a user registration system and an integrated fan shop, we pivoted to Webflow, a tool none of us had previously worked with but that offered the flexibility to support both features without custom backend development.

New Website:

What We Did & How
Agile mindset: After numerous meetings with the client to deeply understand their evolving needs, we embraced flexibility and quickly adapted to a new tool rather than sticking rigidly to our original plan.

Learning on the fly: Although Webflow was new to us, we dived into its features immediately, leveraging tutorials, documentation, and community resources.
Leveraged Webflow’s advanced features:
User Accounts: We implemented a registration, login, and profile management system directly in Webflow, avoiding complex backend development.
Custom Code & API Integration: To display constantly updated stats such as player info, game results, and rankings, we implemented custom code that connects to external data sources, ensuring fans always see the latest information.
Logic & Automation: Using Webflow’s logic capabilities, we created dynamic user flows and interactions tailored to different types of users.
CMS Integration: We set up content management to enable the Federation’s team to easily update news, schedules, and player profiles.
Store: We developed an integrated fan shop powered by Webflow’s e-commerce features to support merchandise sales.
Custom Code & API Integration: To display constantly updated stats such as player info, game results, and rankings, we implemented custom code that connects to external data sources, ensuring fans always see the latest information.

Fast iteration: The platform’s visual interface and flexible logic allowed us to prototype and refine features rapidly, saving time and effort.

Why This Approach Worked
Speed: Webflow enabled us to deliver a complex platform faster than building custom backend solutions or trying to force Framer into a user management role.
Flexibility: Its visual development environment allowed quick pivots and adjustments based on client feedback.
Empowerment: The Federation can now manage content, user data, and their fan shop independently without ongoing developer intervention. Plus, thanks to our custom integration, their website automatically displays updated player stats and rankings in real time, keeping fans engaged with the latest information.
Proof of concept: This project proved that even without prior experience, the right tool combined with an agile approach can produce professional results.
